3 Tips For Your First Reiki Session
Reiki is a form of alternative medicine that originated in Japan and involves gentle touch and deep breathing. Reiki practitioners believe they can help clear negative energy from your body, promoting greater health and well-being. Most people who partake in reiki energy healing sessions find it very relaxing and they leave their sessions feeling lighter and happier. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your first reiki energy healing session.
Arrive a Bit Early if Possible
Reiki works best when you are in a relaxed mindset, rather than a frantic one when you arrive. Of course, this can't always be helped but it's a good idea to set yourself up for success. It will help to arrive a bit early so that you don't feel rushed, and so that you will still be on time if you get caught in traffic or can't easily find parking.
Arriving a bit early will give you a chance to find the correct reiki studio and fill out any client intake paperwork your reiki practitioner has for you.
Wear Comfortable Clothes
It's important to feel as relaxed as possible during your reiki healing session, so plan to wear comfortable clothing to your appointment. You will likely either be laying down or lounging in a comfortable chair during your session. Loose-fitting, soft clothing is ideal.
Of course, your appointment may be scheduled for right after work or an event, in which case you can likely just bring comfortable clothes to change into you. Be sure to ask ahead of time if your reiki practitioner has a space for you to change clothes if needed.
Consider Adding Complementary Treatments
One of the benefits of reiki energy healing is that it can complement and boost the results of other forms of treatment. In fact, some reiki energy healing practitioners also offer additional services, such s massage, acupuncture, or mental health counseling.
Depending on which issues you are hoping to heal from during your reiki sessions, you may want to also schedule a massage, a sound bath, a guided meditation session, acupuncture, or counseling. You can do this on the same day as your reiki session, or space them out over the course of a few days.
If reiki energy healing appeals to you, go ahead and schedule your first appointment. You can also ask for a consultation if needed to ask any questions you may have.
